Starting your recruiting journey can feel overwhelming — but it doesn’t have to be. At
GSI, we break the process into simple, actionable steps to help you stay focused and
confident every step of the way. No two journeys are the same, but every athlete
needs the right tools, the right support, and strong communication with college

FRESHMAN YEAR

Get familiar with NCAA recruiting rules (D1, D2, D3 all differ)
Create and update your Sports Recruits profile regularly, adding your club and high school

For interest in playing D1 or D2, check the NCAA Core Courses and discuss with your school counselor to make sure you're on track

SOPHOMORE YEAR

Begin building your highlight reel (BallTime) to upload to SportsRecruits and your volleyball Instagram Recruiting profile
Create a broad list of target colleges/program; email college coaches early in your club season (cc your GSI recruiting coordinator)
The PSAT, ACT, and SAT are not required for NCAA Eligibility, but good scores can help you get into academically competitive schools
Stay consistent with training—offers could be just one season away

JUNIOR YEAR

Narrow your college list and research programs in-depth
Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center; take the SAT/ACT and send scores to the NCAA
Send updated highlight videos, resumes & club schedules to coaches
Attend college ID camps, showcases, and take unofficial visits

SENIOR YEAR

Real Stories from Athletes Who Made It

★★★★★
Nikki King has been such a tremendous resource for me as a recruiting coordinator. She has a very large network and proven track record of properly evaluating talent for the next level. Her assessments are on point and works diligently to help ensure the athlete and the school are a perfect fit. I know I can call Nikki anytime to get honest and accurate information I am looking for about a specific recruit. Additionally, I know Nikki can lead me to other prospective recruits that could benefit our program. Most of all, though, I love that Nikki takes time to personally know me as a coach to better understand the type of players we are looking for. Nikki knows best, so it's best to know Nikki!
NCAA DI ASSISTANT COACH
★★★★★
Nikki and her staff are able to help players navigate the recruiting process that can easily become overwhelming. Having someone who has played and coached at the collegiate level, who understands the demands of the student-athlete, and is able to effectively communicate the differences between schools can make the process less stressful – allowing the players to enjoy the honor of being recruited to play collegiate athletics. Coaches at the college level stress the importance of 'fit' during the process, and Nikki is able to help a player understand what will make her feel the most valued, challenged, and successful in her choice.
NCAA DI HEAD COACH
★★★★★
Nikki has a lot of relationships with college coaches. I think the biggest thing is they respect her because of her knowledge of the game! One thing many parents make a mistake of is thinking you do not have to do any work. Not true!! Your daughters need to be sending out videos and contacting coaches. What Nikki does is have a line of communication with them. She asks the hard questions that your daughter is afraid to ask... where are they on their list, what do they have to offer, etc. My daughter Kylie was very picky! Nikki never gave up on her dreams. She stayed with Kylie until she finally committed to University of Pennsylvania. We will forever be grateful for all the time and energy Nikki put into helping her get recruited. Thank you, Nikki Valentine King!

I can tell you that here at our University, we are huge fans of what you're doing and excited to continue to follow your players moving forward. Anything you can send us we will definitely look at. We love the kids you're tied to and even if we can't make it happen here, we can definitely assist with helping you get it done somewhere where they'll get the money they deserve.
